When you think it can’t be done, it can, Jackie Anderson, jewelry and  eyewear designer, creator is having an exhibition with 12 utterly unusual eyewear works of art.


Animal Overpass

EDMONTON – Glasses have been a pretty constant part of Jackie Anderson’s face for more than 50 years. So rather than fight them, she embraced them as an artist, albeit in an unusual way. First, she deconstructed them, skewing their arms into the bases for martini glasses, forming their parts into pieces of jewelry. Then she made them into eye ornaments and beyond; objects so intricate, they are more sculpture than eyewear. Now, the Calgary metalwork artist has assembled a decade of her eyewear creations into a show running downtown at the Alberta Craft Council until Oct. 15.
