With the Help of Wiley X Shades, Top Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Takes Prestigious Event for Second Straight Year
Wiley X-sponsored Pro Angler Stephen Browning finished strong on the third and final day of the Bass Pro Shops Central Open on the Red River in Shreveport, Louisiana, winning the event with a total weight of 44 pounds, 3 ounces. His trip to the victory stand on April 26th marked Browning’s second straight win at this prestigious event.
While Browning didn’t have to charge from 12th place to win on the final day this time, there was one thing in common with last year’s Red River win — the glare-cutting vision and Absolute Premium Protection of Wiley X sunglasses. This year, Browning began the final day in 2nd Place and then culled his way to a solid final limit as he distanced himself from the field, finishing more than three pounds ahead of the next closest angler.
The clear vision provided by his polarized Wiley X sunglasses played an important role in Browning’s successful stretch drive. The first day was windy, and Browning did most of his damage throwing a ½-ounce chartreuse and white spinnerbait. As the wind laid down and bright sun shone on the water the next two days, Browning knew the fish would be holding very close to wood cover. To succeed, he first had to visually locate these types of productive areas, as well as any bass hanging nearby. Then, he had to make precision presentations with a diminutive 3.5” square-billed crankbait (in sexy shad) to entice these fish to attack in less-than-ideal conditions. This same strategy of pinpointing bass on wood cover helped him win on Red River last year, as well.
In addition to sharp, fish-spotting vision, Wiley X provides Browning and other pro anglers with the protection and confidence they need to fish hard all day long. Wiley X sunglasses meet stringent ANSI Z87.1 High Velocity and High Mass Impact Safety standards, providing occupational grade protection for all wearers and a wide range of activities. Wiley X is the only premium sunglass brand with this level of vision protection in every pair of glasses it makes.
Here’s another big advantage for serious fishermen — almost all Wiley X eyewear styles are Rx-ready, making these glasses an ideal, no-compromise solution for people who require prescription lenses for fishing, driving or even working. In fact, Browning just received his new pair of WX Rush glasses with Wiley X’s New DIGIFORCE™ Digital lens technology in Progressive prior to the Open on Red River.
