New York, NY (March 20, 2010) – Reed Exhibitions vice president of strategic accounts, Valerie Scott, was honored last night at the SUNY State College of Optometry Eyes on New York gala. The gala, held at the Cipriani, is held each year to benefit the Optometric Center of New York, the foundation of the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. The gala recognizes honorees for their contributions to the ophthalmic industry and community.

I am extremely honored to be recognized by SUNY as an Eyes on New York honoree.  As my relationships in the optical community have grown over the years it has deeply enhanced the International Vision Expos and be assured it will continue for many more years to come.”

Scott began her career at Reed Exhibitions in 1995 as a part-time sales temp working on International Vision Expo. She then that she took a full-time position as sales executive, moving on to national account manager, director of strategic accounts and then rising to her most recent promotion to vice president in 2008.

Her accomplishments include the creation of the Galleria, The Underground and the Mezzanine and The Suites. Scott was also recognized in 2006 as one of Vision Monday’s 50 Most Influential Women in the optical industry.
