Snow Leopards are an endangered species with an estimated 4,500-7,500 left in the world. They are increasingly being driven from their habitats due to growth, mining and climate change. In addition they are being poached. Snow Leopard bones are being used in replacement for tiger bones in eastern medicine. For those who still wear fur, snow leopards coats are still in demand.  Currently they reside in 12 Asian countries.

Because snow leopards live in the higher altitude snow and mountain systems, their coloring blends well with the rocks and snow. Excellent camouflage.
