In the early 1980’s I used to sell eyewear for Neostyle in the United States. One of our top selling frames was the Plaza series of plexiglass eyeglasses. Those eyeglass retailed for about $150 dollars, which was a lot of money back in the 80’s. The closest competition that I had was a company called Revue, which offered plexiglass frame with a zyl acetate temple.

Over the year, we have seen plexiglass sunglasses in shields with lots of colors, but we have only found one company that is making plexiglass-glass eyewear that you can RX. That company is MicroMega Ottica who has carved out a niche in this category.

Plexiglass has some wonderful qualities, the shapes, you can color and customize, but you really have to treat them well, which you should anyway, when you wearing works of art.
