Scientists from the US and National Federation of the Blind for the development of a working car for the blind. The car will be using technology which allows a blind driver to actually drive independently.

Non-visual aids include sensors indicating turns in the road via vibrating gloves.

Puffs of compressed air on the face will alert the driver to obstacles.

Other aids to be fitted include a vibrating vest to give feedback on speed and a steering wheel with audio cues and spoken commands indicating the car’s direction.

Hopefully the care will be presented next year and looking like a modified Ford Escape. For those who want to see, a prototype will be tested at Daytona this year.
