Birth of a new player in the world of ophthalmic optics.

Luneau Technology is expanding through a merger with a European company.

Luneau Technology, based in Chartres, announces the merger with Briot International which develops, manufactures and markets Briot & Weco edgers and Rodenstock Instruments refraction systems.

Since 1934, Briot has developed innovative edgers to help opticians in their everyday work.  Its subsidiary, Weco, founded in 1914, is a pioneer in the optics sector and a forerunner in integrated drilling.  Thanks to this longevity, unique expertise and innovation, Briot/Weco confirms its positioning as the world leader in the optical market.

For Dr. Marc Abitbol, CEO of Luneau Technology, “this merger is an excellent opportunity to build our growth in the optical market”.  We want to combine the synergy of our products with our innovative power in order to develop our global presence.  The Luneau-Visionix brand completes the Briot/Weco edger range with hi-tech optometric equipment and several patents in the ophthalmic optics sector.

This new player in the ophthalmic optics sector will continue to build on its tradition of innovation and leadership.  With a focus on research and development, it will continue to set the standards for the industry.

With Briot International, Luneau Technology continues its growth through acquisition.  We recall the success of the purchase in 2003 by its subsidiary Visionix of Luneau SAS, the second-ranking ophthalmic diagnosis player in France, with 130 distributors worldwide.

Luneau Technology specializes in ophthalmic diagnosis systems.  It develops, manufactures and markets innovative products aimed at optical and ophthalmologic professionals and based on WAVEFRONT technology.   Luneau Technology benefits from strong positioning through a complete range of technological equipment.
