The consumer wants to know! With that concern, manufacturers are constantly seeking out new products and materials that are eco-friendly. Crafting Plastic Studio is one such design studio that worked with scientists to produce a new bio-plastic for the creation of biodegradeable eyewear.
Eyewear from plant based materials such as castor beans are becoming more common. We will most likely see the rise of algae in eyewear. Plastic Crafting Studio sunglasses are also from plant based materials such as corn starch, tapioca or sugar cane. Their new process is currently awaiting a patent.
The sunwear is called Collection 1 with 10 prototype styles available and exhibited at Gallery Rossana Orlandi Milan design week 2016.
