New sunwear company Northern Lights has been receiving a lot of attention lately. Based in Vancouver, BC, this young and hip company is turning the typical climber sunwear into fashion statements. Most eyewear in this extreme sport market is Rayban knock-offs and vintage. This collection combines the best of the catwalk into a sport mode with a vintage vibe. There is something about the look and feel of this collection that crossover of Admiral Richard Bryd the explorer and JayZ.
Fortunately I got to see this collection at the Vision Expo Show in New York, fortunately for them they were busy but unfortunately for us, they were so busy, I didn’t get to preview the full collection. But I loved what I saw!
My favorites were the mountaineering look. Large, chunky and flat round suns with leather sun shields and a leather bridge hit the right note for both men and women for a sporty look to be worn all year.
This shielded look is coming on strong in the luxury eyewear market. Not a new look, since shielded sun were created in the early 1900’s Of course the combo package with both metal and acetate with a leather side shields.
