Is Space Age Fashion Eyewear coming back? What is the deal with the tie back ribbons? I saw the Satu Maaranen eyewear collection, who combined a couple of vintage and unusual looks for Spring Summer 2015. The front has the large, round and white on trend look, but then combined it with a fabric/ribbon temple or tie back. You can take the accessorizing ribbon and make a big bow, tie it anyway you like. The Space Age look comes from the Aleuts or the Space Age Fashion look popularized by Andre Courrages in the 1960’s.
Louise Grey picked up the ‘Aleut’ look with a graffiti flair for the runway in 2013.
Vivienne Westwood Aleut Fashion on the runway in 2009, came with a stainless look.
Jean Shrimpton in 1966.
The Ribbon, a bit of a challenge to wear, was available as a scarf, wrap aka turban.
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, introduced the tie back look in her Fall Winter 12-13 campaign.
L.Wren Scott also liked the ribboned with ties in her first sunwear collection.
Hussein Chalayan introduced the large round look with a scarf wrap, that can double as a turban.
Alain Mikli in a special projects collaboration with Imany, a model and singer, produced a full collection of be-ribboned and turbaned sunwear.
