Earth Day is about Recycle Reuse and Reduce. All month we have been featuring Eco Friendly Eyewear, companies that are giving back and or using eco friendly materials. c

6.) JPlus Vision– Uses Mazzucchelli’s bioplastic for their eyewear
7.) Dick Moby: There are several things we love about Dick Moby aside from the name and they give back. They have a total committment the enviromenent with a large selection of recycled acetate eyewear from Mazzucchelli Zyl. . The black frames are made of 97% recycled acetate. The cleaning cloths are made from recycled PET plastics and the cases are made from recycled leather.
8.) Modo has several Eco Friendly programs. They offer a one for one program, they plant trees and have a recycled metal eyewear collection. Their ECO Biobased eyewear is made from 63% renewable non-food oil, certified by the USDA, and a tree is planted for every frame sold
9.) Nature Eyes (formerly Linkskin) was one of the first eco-friendly eyeglasses in the market and launched in 2008. They use recycled acetate and titanium, polypropylene and wood
10.) Zeal Optics, owned by Maui Jim released in 2013 the first of their eco friendly bio-plastics eyewear. The first style was made from 100% US-grown cotton. Harvested in the USA, the cotton is was then sent to Italian eyewear-maker Mazzucchelli where it was turned into resin and made into eyewear.
There are quite a few other capsule collections from designers such as Gucci and Stella McCartney. Laura Biagiotti has a bio collection of eyewear.
