ALEXANDRIA, VA (November 7, 2012) – Eyecessorize, The Vision Council’s campaign to increase awareness of the fashion and lifestyle aspects of eyewear, achieved a social media milestone today, crossing the 50,000 ‘likes’ mark on its official Facebook page (facebook.com/eyecessorize).
The fashion-eyewear page has been growing steadily since launching in October 2008. During the last quarter alone, the page received more than five million impressions, 872 interactions and gained 8,950 likes.
“Eyecessorize has been instrumental in helping us to educate consumers about popular and upcoming trends, the latest products and industry news,” said Steve Rappaport, chair of The Vision Council’s Marketing & Communications Committee and president of L’Amy America. “We look forward to many more milestones in the months and years ahead.”
To help bridge the gap between runway and real life, the Eyecessorize Facebook page offers its fans an inside look at each season’s hottest eyewear trends, from new and noteworthy frames to face shape and makeup tips to eyewear-clad celebrities, and more. The page provides an opportunity to become well-versed in the fashionable world of eyewear and, furthermore, to share that knowledge with friends, family, colleagues, patients and customers.
In addition to Facebook, Eyecessorize utilizes several social media platforms to showcase eyewear as a must-have accessory. Its Twitter page (twitter.com/eyecessorize) has garnered more than 1,200 followers since launching in 2010. The blog (eyecessorizeblog.com) – which features everything from product releases to celebrity sightings to popular eyewear trends – has been well received by both members and consumers and has developed a solid and consistent readership. In the past three months alone, the Eyecessorize blog has received more than 17,000 page views. Eyecessorize also posts regularly on its 16 Pinterest boards (pinterest.com/Eyecessorize), and has established 275 followers since launching in 2011. Tumblr (eyecessorize.tumblr.com) has also become a part of Eyecessorize’s social media campaign, with 165 followers.
